The Jim Cherry Memorial Planetarium at the Fernbank Science Center is an operation of the De Kalb County Board of Education. It is the biggest of all US planetariums run by a school authority. Nevertheless, the planetarium is not restricted to school use but offers a wide range of shows to the general public as well. These are prepared by the Fernbank team and make comprehensive use of audiovisual equipment.
