1) Do PhotoFusion® lenses work in a car?
Much of the UV radiation that activates self-tinting lenses is absorbed by car windshields. Fortunately, PhotoFusion® high- and mid-index self-tinting lenses retain more of their self-tinting performance inside automobiles than the previous generation by ZEISS. Nevertheless, some wearers may prefer a dedicated pair of sunglasses for extended periods of driving.

2) Are PhotoFusion® lenses completely clear indoors?
Yes, PhotoFusion® lenses will appear virtually clear indoors to wearers.

3) Will PhotoFusion® lenses replace sunglasses?
For general-purpose use - either indoors, outdoors, day, or night - PhotoFusion® lenses offer excellent overall visual performance and glare protection. Nevertheless, under intense sunlight in environments with high temperatures, inside cars with windshields that block most ultraviolet radiation, or in environments with intense reflective glare from surfaces such as water and snow, a dedicated pair of prescription sunglasses with a fixed tint will offer the best form of glare protection and visual comfort.

4) How fast are PhotoFusion® high- and mid-index lenses (darken and fading back)?
PhotoFusion® high- and mid-index self-tinting lenses provide very good speed, darkening up to 20% faster* than the previous generation by ZEISS - and fade back to clear up to twice as fast*.

5) How do PhotoFusion® lenses react in the shadow?
Depending on the intensity of UV rays in the shadow, self-tinting lenses will be not as dark as in the full sun, but will always provide 100% solar UV protection.

6) Are PhotoFusion® lenses suitable for night driving?
Of course! They are as good as other clear lenses for night driving.

7) Do PhotoFusion® lenses have UV protection
Yes, the base material already contains a 100% solar UV protection, either the lens is clear or darkened. The wearer is always protected against solar UV rays.

8) Are PhotoFusion® lenses suitable for all-day wear, inside or outside?
Yes, PhotoFusion® lenses are virtually clear in their faded state, making them perfectly suitable for indoor and night-time use. Further, when exposed to sunlight, PhotoFusion® lenses darken as needed to maintain sufficient glare control, darkening to near-sunglass tint in bright sunlight. In extremely sunny situations an extra pair of sunglasses may be useful.

9) What are the benefits of PhotoFusion® lenses compared to clear lenses?
Unlike clear lenses, PhotoFusion® self-tinting lenses darken as ambient light levels increase. “They are virtually clear indoors and darken to near sunglass-density under bright sunlight, providing glare protection and increased visual comfort.

10) Will PhotoFusion® lenses work as well as my previous pair of self-tinting – or “photochromic” - eyeglasses?
PhotoFusion® high- and mid-index self-tinting lenses rely on the latest advancements in self-tinting technology, offering very good performance. They will darken up to 20% faster * and fade back up to two times faster * than previous photochromic lenses offered by ZEISS. Strong performance can be retained.
Results of a wearer test with high- and mid-index lenses showed that 97% of wearers say PhotoFusion® high- and mid-index self-tinting lenses are better than or equal to their old “photochromic” lenses.
